I set a goal for myself to read 12 books in 2025. Though I had this same goal last year, I struggled to meet it. I assumed one book per month was a modest goal, but life got in the way, as it often does. So, here’s to staying accountable to our reading goals in 2025! If you’d like to follow along with what I am reading this year, let’s be friends on Goodreads!
Flirting with French: How a Language Charmed Me, Seduced Me, and Nearly Broke My Heart
By Alexander William

Author Alexander William is enamored by the French language and culture. He shares his struggles with learning a second language in his fifties while describing his journey through France.
I found this book on the shelf of a thrift store last year and knew I wanted to read it, as I have also struggled with picking up a second language (specifically French). I am nowhere near the level of Francophile as Mr. Alexander, but I am so excited to devour this book. Plus falling in love with a Language is also somewhat Valentine’s Day-themed… right? I know kind of a stretch, but we’re going with it.
Metabolical: The Lure and the Lies of Processed Food, Nutrition, and Modern Medicine.
By Dr. Robert H. Lustig

Just as the title suggests, Dr. Lustig debunks what we have come to learn as standard practice in the modern medicine world. He does not hold back while writing this eye-opening account.
Metabolical was recommended to me as an audiobook through my Library app, Libby. I am already several hours into this book, and let me just say my jaw is on the floor!! Do yourself a favor and give this book a read.
What are your reading goals this year? I’d love to hear! Cheers to reading more in 2025!
With love,
Lauren
